Valentine's Day is a short yet intensive season for retailers. Making the most of the season means planning a multi-faceted attack well in advance. It is best to start any marketing six weeks prior to the commencement of the season.

Here are some left-field marketing tips you could consider to make Valentine's Day in your business. While they may not apply to your particular business, they should get you thinking of ideas which are appropriate.

Heart wall. Get customers to submit heart themed art around a heart image or style. Post the art in the windows and on the walls - to show off to customers. Have a small prize for the winner to recognise success.

Romance graffiti wall. Put up a white board or butcher's paper and invite customers to write anonymous notes of romance to others on the wall. This is an opportunity for shoppers to have some fun in a more traditional way around Valentine's Day.
